Looking for a place to eat breakfast or lunch around Horicon was a little tricky. We could head north through Mayville and Kekoskee or take the southern route through the town of Horicon both points unknown. Yelp was our source for suggestions. The Cooper Shop saloon in Kekoskee got pretty good reviews, citing good food and a pretty view. It was a great pick. The view was of the Millpond on the Rock River and the restaurant itself the site of an old cooperage that was saved from demolition. Up stream from the Cooperage was the mill which sent its logs down to be made into barrels. Pretty cool history.
The refurb is nicely done repurposing wood and metal where ever possible.
The staff seems to work as a team honing recipes and bringing enthusiasm for food and beer to the table.
The beer selection was diverse. A variety of styles to please everyone and entice you to try something new. The food was tasty.
They do hold a Friday night Fish Fry. If I'm ever in the area again on a Friday, I will definitely be stopping in.
